Now even easier: advice on hygiene measures for travel services
DRV publishes Hygiene and Safety GlobalTypes® in cooperation with Peakwork
Berlin, 16 July 2020 – The German Travel Association (DRV) and the IT provider Peakwork have published an extension of GlobalTypes®. The categories for the detailed description of travel services in the booking systems (GlobalTypes®), which exist within the framework of the DRV data standard, will now be supplemented by new hygiene and safety GlobalTypes®. As travel restrictions around Covid-19 eases, travel agency consulting is of particular importance to holidaymakers. To make it easier for travel agency experts to answer questions about hygiene and safety measures in destinations, and also for certain hotels, appropriate information is provided here. These new GlobalTypes® are now available to travel companies and can be easily integrated into booking systems.
Questions regarding the mandatory wearing of face masks, if additional hand sanitizer dispensers are installed, if air purification systems are in use and information regarding social distancing regulations, as well as further information on hygiene concepts and other hygiene-relevant parameters can all be found in the new attributes. In particular, these new parameters supplement information on accommodation, catering and possible additional services. With these detailed and easily comparable descriptions, holidaymakers are given more planning security. At the same time, they make booking decisions easier.
The DRV data standard is offered by DRV Service GmbH. DRV Service Managing Director, Olaf Collet, explained: "In the current situation, it is important to offer holidaymakers as much security as possible and to make the local conditions transparent. The DRV GlobalTypes® are therefore an important tool for travel agency consulting."
Ralf Usbeck, CEO of Peakwork, adds: "Tour operators and service providers are doing their utmost to make holiday trips as safe as possible. We are pleased to be able to support the tourism industry and our partners specifically in mapping and marketing these additional measures."
The association has been offering the DRV data standard as an industry solution since 2010. With this standard, tourism offers can be assigned certain characteristics based on GlobalTypes® and made available in the sales systems via a standardized interface (query logic). These are uniform attributes that serve to precisely describe the products. The aim is to make tour operator products more comparable. Travel agencies can use these uniform descriptions to search for and compare package tours according to specific criteria such as the location of the hotel, distance to the beach, equipment and much more.
